DUO

Plastic waste is an escalating issue confronting humanity, with oceans brimming with islands of refuse discarded by our society, destined not to decompose for centuries. For this project, we utilized such plastic waste, sorting it by color, and repurposed it using an open-source plastic injection machine to create new objects. We selected an object often used for decades and revalorized waste in combination with laser-cut stainless steel. Every fork and knife produced is a unique piece. Through pre-curated plastic selection and subsequent processing, we crafted a rainbow of diverse colors. Now, food packaging waste is partially transformed into our cutlery, which may be used to eat food again, thereby drawing attention to this pressing issue.
