UNBROKEN
Recycled glass stool. Material and process pushed to the limit.

Fused Glas
These stools are made from out-of-spec production glass. Rather than sending the material back into an energy-intensive melt, Magna’s expertise lies in fusing the fragments at lower temperatures to preserve character and reduce processing energy. The material still shows the cracks and speckles of the individual glass pieces, yet it fuses into a robust, load-bearing, long-lasting material with astonishing depth and color.

Bent by gravitation
At the heart of this project was bending the fused glass into a three-dimensional form. After fusing, the sheet is brought to bending temperature on a support. Once the support is removed, gravity lets the glass sag until both legs curve into shape, forming the stool.
COLOR
The stool’s hue is largely defined by the base color of the glass used in production. As diverse as glass colors come, clear, green, amber, blue, and beyond, so too is the palette the stool can be made in, each variant retaining its own depth and subtle variation.

Depth
From the side, the fused fragments read like a cross-section, their layers clearly legible. The edge acts like a lens, revealing fine seams and speckles with crisp transparency, and gives the stool a striking sense of depth.

Fused Glas
Circular
The material from Magna Glaskeramik is Cradle to Cradle Certified®. The stool is a true mono-material object, so streams stay pure and the material remains in a closed loop.
